The Value of a Sounding Board
Sounding boards come in two varieties - solid black, and mirror-finish.
Have you tried them both?
For a long time I labored under the imporession that there were only solid black ones. Your 'coach', 'mentor', 'parent', 'friend' who was patient enough to let you pour your worries out onto their shoulders.
They then carried the can, and you walked away free .. for a while, anyway.
Yesterday it was brought home to me just how powerful the mirror-finished variety is.
I was the sounding board for someone else. Except that through the arcane magic of that dark science - asking questions - it became a two-way exchange.
An exchange we both benefited from enormously.
Just reflecting back what each of us was saying. The messages changed in the transmission, and became enhanced or degraded, as appropriate. And very useful.
A mirror-finished sounding board is a tool well worth adding to your self help armory!
