Lateral Transfer Of Ideas

Wide reading and an open mind can be great tools for people willing and eager to help themselves. A good example is the oft-quoted advice among entrepreneurs that some of the easiest opportunities arise when someone simply transfers an idea laterally from one industry to another. Or one task to another.

For years I've battled with the products of feeble morality that cost me perhaps 40% of what could be my productivity on a computer. Such things are usually termed 'spam', 'viruses' or 'spyware'. My machine is so bogged down by anti-everything software that real programs sometime won't even run.

And still the problems occur.

So I tried to re-think my approach. Who is actually behind all this malware? Students. So how do schools combat it? Answer: they wipe out the little darlings' efforts at the end of every day. Fresh day, fresh start, clean machine. Now why didn't I think of that?

Apparently such 'freezing' software is available, and also widely used by the owners of Internet cafes.

Time to get digging!
